Aside from loving to help our clients with all of their tax and accounting needs, the team at Elevation Tax also enjoys many things outside of work that help create a fun and unique environment that keeps us challenged each and everyday.
Jeff Bullock, CPA - Director of Operations
Since childhood, Jeff has been fascinated by what drives business success, a passion that led him to earn both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting from Brigham Young University. After graduating with a Master of Accountancy in Tax, he started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Denver. While rewarding, the repetitive nature of work on a single tax return line for months prompted him to seek a more dynamic path. This inspired him to found Elevation Tax Group in 2014, a firm dedicated to providing comprehensive tax and accounting services for entrepreneurs and individuals.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he's embraced triathlons, competing in multiple full and half Ironman races. A couple of years ago he set a goal to complete the World Marathon Majors. He's finished three of the seven races and aims to conquer the remaining four in the coming years. He loves everything Lego, building, designing, and collecting with his boys!
James Setterberg, CPA - Director of Tax
It wasn't until James took an accounting class in high school in Franklin, MA that he discovered a clear path for his future career. Once he began his studies at Brigham Young University and took undergraduate accounting courses, he knew this was the field he wanted to pursue. After earning a Bachelor of Accounting degree from BYU, James entered the workforce and soon found that taxation was the area he was most passionate about. He went on to earn a Master of Taxation degree from Weber State University and has been with Elevation Tax Group since it was first formed in 2014.
Outside of work, James enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their three children. Much of his free time is dedicated to cheering on his kids at soccer games, baseball tournaments, and dance competitions. His family enjoys staying active and especially loves spending time outdoors, often exploring the trails and red rock landscape of St. George, Utah. James also enjoys playing sports whenever he gets the chance and continues to have a soft spot for all his Boston professional sports teams.
Nick Iverson, CMA, EA - Director of Accounting
From an early age, Nick's love for numbers and problem-solving led him to discover his true calling in accounting during his very first college class. Nick earned associate degrees in both Business and Accounting before completing his bachelor's degree in accounting. While finishing his degree, he also achieved the designation of Enrolled Agent (EA), demonstrating his expertise in tax matters and earning the highest credential awarded by the IRS.
Driven by a deep fascination with business financials and a desire to bring clarity to complex data, Nick joined the Institute of Management Accountants and earned the prestigious Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. His unique blend of tax knowledge and financial insight allows him to sever clients with a rare combination of precision, strategic thinking, and proactive planning.
Outside of work, Nick enjoys lifting weights and spending quality time with his wife and three children. Whether it's coaching on the sidelines at soccer and football games, or cheering at dance recitals, life with his kids is always full of energy and discovery. He's a devoted fan of all things Marvel and an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan. Nick also has a soft spot for giant breed dogs, especially his two beloved Newfies who add their own brand of excitement and joy to the family.
Hunter Mattson, CPA - Director of Client Success
When Hunter took his first accounting course in college, he learned that he really enjoyed the process of accounting and knew that was what he wanted to major in. Fast forward to today and he has since obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from Utah State University and his master's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. He worked at Elevation Tax Group as a bookkeeper for a few years prior to him leaving to obtain his master's degree. He then worked in public accounting as an auditor for a few years before returning to Elevation Tax. He enjoys helping clients make sense of their financial statements and helping implement processes that ensure a smooth client experience for his clients.
Outside of work, Hunter enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and traveling with them to see new places. He also enjoys playing and watching most sports and hopes to visit every MLB stadium at some point in his life. Along the way, he hopes to find as many golf courses as he can to play.
Ali Barbre - Entity & Payroll Manager
Ali brings a diverse background to Elevation Tax Group, with experience ranging from working at a payroll software company to serving as a collection specialist at a law firm, and even as an escrow assistant at a title company. These varied roles have helped Ali develop a well-rounded skill set that makes her a great fit for her position on the team.
Outside of work, Ali is passionate about spending time outdoors camping and exploring. Her dogs and family play a big role in her life, and she finds the most joy in moments spent laughing, playing games, and enjoying the outdoors with them.
Ali values both professional growth and personal fulfillment, striving to bring quality and care to her work while also embracing life's simple pleasures with family and nature.
Christina Alvez - Entity & Payroll Specialist
Christina has pursued a wide range of skills and knowledge, from life coaching to accounting and taxes. Her work experience has given her a solid foundation in bookkeeping, payroll, and tax principles, all of which support her role at Elevation Tax.
Christina enjoys being part of the team and is enthusiastic about contributing to the company's mission while continuing to grow professionally.
Julie Andrews - Staff Accountant
Julie has had a lifelong passion for numbers, which naturally led her to pursue a career in accounting. She earned her Bachelor of Accounting degree from Utah State University in the Spring of 2023, and continued to complete her Master of Accounting degree with an emphasis in tax in the Spring of 2024. She is currently taking the CPA exams and is excited about the opportunities ahead.
Julie loves working with the amazing clients at Elevation Tax and is enthusiastic about growing with the team. Her dedication to accuracy and client service makes her a valuable part of the firm.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys spending time with her husband and their six children. Together, they love traveling, camping, playing soccer, watching movies, performing in community theater, and playing games, especially from their extensive Monopoly collection. Julie also enjoys baking, running, sewing, and relaxing with a good book.
Misty Bristow - Staff Accountant
Misty holds two bookkeeping certifications and has been with Elevation Tax for multiple years, where she enjoys helping clients keep their books organized. Misty prioritizes enhancing client satisfaction through ongoing skill development. Driven by a passion for tackling complex financial challenges, Misty has found great joy working in the accounting industry.
Beyond work, she envisions owning a 10+ acre property with an orchard, berry garden, and apiary to provide a nurturing environment for her family. In her free time, she enjoys doing puzzles and playing games with her loved ones.
Laura Simon - Staff Accountant
Laura has spend most of her life in Utah and loves calling it home. She joined Elevation Tax in August 2023 and quickly enjoyed working with tools like Xero and Gusto.
Outside of work, Laura manages a busy household with four high schoolers, one in volleyball, two in tennis, and one active in school plays. Laura enjoys spending time with her husband at comedy clubs, quoting movie lines with her kids, and watching movies and shows together as a family.
Matthew Jenkins - Staff Accountant
Matthew grew up in Rigby, Idaho, where an early fascination with business systems led him to start competing in high school accounting competitions. That curiosity quickly turned into a passion, not just for numbers, but for understanding what makes businesses work. He also spend years mentoring youth across the country, gaining a love for people and problem-solving that continues to shape his work today.
Matthew earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University, where he also worked as a bookkeeper for BYU Continuing Education and a research assistant in the field of managerial accounting. These early experiences laid a strong foundation for his current role as a staff accountant at Elevation Tax, where he thrives on helping entrepreneurs find clarity, direction, and success in their financial operations.
Matthew lives in Provo, Utah with his wife, and they're excitedly preparing to welcome their first child. When he's not working, he enjoys camping in the mountains, tinkering with robotics, designing something in 3D, or rolling dice in tabletop games.
Jonah Rogers - Staff Accountant
Jonah is a staff accountant at Elevation Tax and has long-term goals that include expanding his expertise by earning an MBA and achieving the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Jonah gained valuable life experience by serving a religious mission in Texas and Argentina. This period allowed him to develop diverse skills and perspectives. Outside of his professional commitments, Jonah maintains an active and balanced lifestyle. He is an avid athlete, training for triathlons, and also enjoys playing basketball, skiing, and lifting weights.
David Jacobs, EA - Tax Accountant
David is an Enrolled Agent (EA) with a background in tax strategy, tax compliance, and taxpayer representation. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brigham Young University-Idaho and later completed his MBA at Marylhurst University, equipping him with a well-rounded understanding of both accounting principles and business leadership.
Since launching his career in 2017, working for the Big 4 and Goldman Sachs, he has developed a reputation for accuracy, integrity, and a client-centered approach to tax planning and advisory services. As an EA, he is federally authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS and States, and he brings experience in navigating complex tax issues and resolving disputes on behalf of individuals and businesses.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, he has called Utah home for the past eight years, where he enjoys the balance of professional growth and outdoor adventure. Outside of work, he is passionate about cycling, gaming, and outdoor adventures.
Paul Hogue - Tax Accountant
Paul was raised in St. George, Utah, where he developed a strong appreciation for family, hard work, and the outdoors. From an early age, Paul was drawn to numbers and problem-solving, and he found inspiration in watching several family members thrive in accounting careers. Their professional success and balanced lifestyles sparked his interest in the field and solidified his goal to pursue a similar path.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Utah Valley University. Driven by a desire to expand his expertise and leadership capabilities, Paul went on to earn a Master's degree in Business Administration from Southern Utah University.
Paul is a dedicated husband to his wife, and a proud father of four active and healthy children. Family is at the heart of everything he does, and he finds great joy in supporting his kids in their extracurricular activities, from sports to academics and everything in between. Outside of work and family, Paul is an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He enjoys hunting, fishing and traveling with his loved ones, and he finds fulfillment in officiating basketball games, a hobby that blends his love for sports with community involvement.
Travis Tueller - Tax Accountant
Since childhood, Travis has been drawn to both structure and creativity, a combination that led him to pursue a career where strategy, problem-solving, and hands-on work intersect. Raised in both Utah and Northern California, he developed a strong work ethic and a practical mindset early on, shaped by the diverse environments and experiences of his upbringing.
With over 15 years of experience in restaurants and construction management, Travis gained a deep understanding of how businesses operate from the ground up. That real-world foundation, paired with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master's degree in Accounting, eventually steered him toward a career in tax. For over a decade, Travis has specialized in international tax with a focus on global mobility at Ernst & Young, Global Mobility Tax, and CliftonLarsonAllen. He believes great tax planning is about more than just numbers, it's about understanding each client's goals and using the tax system as a tool to support their success.
Outside of work, Travis enjoys woodworking, especially crafting custom furniture. He also is an avid photographer and DIY enthusiast. Travis finds fulfillment in projects that blend creativity and craftsmanship. Most of all, Travis values time with his wife and children., whether it's at home, working on a project, or cheering from the sidelines at his son's soccer matches.
Parker Ling, EA - Tax Accountant
Parker is an Enrolled Agent (EA) and tax professional who strives for clear communication, sharp technical skills, and a steady approach to even the messiest financial situations. With years of experience working with individuals and small business owners, Parker specializes in tax preparation, compliance, and IRS representation. He brings a grounded, strategic mindset to every client interaction, always aiming to simplify the complex and deliver real value.
Parker is currently working toward his CPA license while continuing to support a growing client base with care and precision. He prides himself on being responsive, detail-oriented, and someone clients can truly rely on during tax season and beyond.
Outside of work, Parker values time with his family and draws strength from the relationships that have helped shape who he is. In recent months, he has developed a not-so-casual obsession with disc golf. What started as a weekend hobby has now become a full-fledged commitment, complete with gear upgrades, course tracking, and a growing competitive streak. Grounded, driven, and never without a bit of dry humor, Parker brings his full self to everything he does professionally and personally.
Alex Parry - Office Administrator
As the first point of contact at the firm, Alex helps set the tone for a friendly, organized, and stress-free experience. She manages phone calls, scheduling, and day-to-day office tasks, making sure everything runs smoothly for both clients and the team. With a background in customer service and office support, she's always ready to lend a hand and help clients feel comfortable from the start.
Outside of the office, Alex loves spending time with her family, traveling, and singing. As a California native, she also loves traveling back home to enjoy quality tacos and the beach any chance she can get. She's known for her warm personality, easygoing nature, and ability to keep the office flowing with a smile.
